How Provident Research builds, matches and supports clinical research teams for medical device and MedTech programs, from individual specialists to embedded FSP teams.
How Provident Research works
Provident Research provides medical device clinical research staffing for sponsor and CRO teams, from individual specialists to dedicated teams and embedded FSP support. Since 2009, Provident Research has staffed programs across clinical operations, clinical and medical science, data and biometrics, regulatory affairs, safety and device vigilance, and clinical business operations, matching professionals on both functional expertise and device experience.
Choose Provident Research when your program needs a specific combination of functional expertise, device experience and the ability to work within your organization. Provident Research has focused on medical device clinical research since 2009, draws on a network of more than 50,000 pre-screened professionals in the sector and brings clinical development knowledge to every assessment. More than 95% of professionals staffed by Provident Research remain in role at the 12-month mark, so your program keeps the continuity it needs.
Provident Research starts with the work rather than the job title: the functions involved, the scope and duration of the work, and the leadership and oversight your team will provide. Support can be an individual specialist, several roles across a program or a dedicated team, structured around clinical operations, clinical and medical science, data and biometrics, regulatory affairs, safety and device vigilance, and clinical business operations. The scope and reporting relationships are agreed before the engagement begins.
Under an FSP, or functional service provider, model, dedicated professionals support your organization under an agreed service arrangement. With direct hiring, you bring someone into your own workforce. Provident Research supports both: dedicated FSP professionals, and direct-hire or contingency recruiting when you want to add someone to your own team.
Yes. Provident Research’s embedded and FSP professionals work within your organization while your team retains the agreed study leadership and decision-making responsibilities. Provident Research provides professionals for the defined scope, and reporting relationships and any functional oversight are established at the start of the engagement. You add experienced capacity without outsourcing the study to a CRO.
Yes. Under Provident Research’s dedicated FSP model, assigned professionals work for your organization rather than being shared between sponsors, giving your team consistent support for the agreed assignment. Scope, reporting relationships and work arrangements are defined before the engagement begins.
Yes, where appropriate and agreed with your organization. At the start of the engagement, we define the responsibilities, communication needs and escalation paths, giving the assignment a clear oversight structure while your team retains the agreed study leadership and decision-making responsibilities.
Provident Research provides professionals matched on the device and procedural experience your program needs, not just the role title, and handles the sourcing, onboarding and ongoing resource management around them. We discuss the role and working environment with you first, so the people who join your team fit its expectations, processes and reporting relationships. That leaves your leads free to focus on running the study.
Provident Research offers compliant engagement on clear terms, with scope, duration, reporting relationships and work arrangements agreed before the engagement begins. Capacity can scale as your program needs change, from one specialist to a dedicated team. With more than 95% of professionals staffed by Provident Research in role at the 12-month mark, high retention keeps replacement and re-onboarding costs down.
Yes. Provident Research can support an early-stage company with one specialist or several roles built around your current development needs. We start with the work to be done and the experience it requires, then recommend an arrangement that fits. You don’t need to commit to a full team from the outset.
Yes. Provident Research provides additional resources for project needs, expanding programs and temporary gaps in your clinical organization. We review the role, expected duration, required experience and onboarding needs, then confirm availability and terms before the engagement begins.
Experience & fit
Provident Research staffs programs quickly because it has resourced medical device clinical research since 2009, and that experience gives its team foresight. Before an engagement begins, Provident Research knows where resourcing is likely to stall, which profiles are scarce, what competing sponsors and CROs are offering and which adjacent experience can fill a gap. Combined with a network of more than 50,000 pre-screened clinical research professionals in the medical device sector, that foresight lets identification, onboarding and mobilization move without the delays of trial and error, delivering a faster, more cost-effective staffing solution.
Timing still depends on the role, specialty, location, notice periods and onboarding requirements, so once we’ve reviewed your requirement, we’ll give you a realistic start-date plan. In staffing, haste isn’t speed: experience lets Provident Research anticipate problems rather than react to them.
Assessments are led by veteran clinical development professionals, and Provident Research’s team brings backgrounds in clinical development, data and biometrics. That experience lets us look past the résumé to what a professional actually did, the responsibilities they carried and how that work relates to your program.
Provident Research assesses the device technology, the procedure and the assigned responsibilities together, far beyond the role title. For example, on a stent trial, a CRA from hypertension drug trials faces a steep learning curve, myocardial infarction experience can likely do the job, other coronary interventional experience, such as balloon angioplasty or intravascular lithotripsy, is a stronger match and stent experience is ideal. Likewise, experience on a surgical valve program differs from experience on a catheter-based valve study, even though both are structural heart.
We work with you to separate essential experience from useful related experience. Generalist providers search either too broadly (any cardiovascular experience) or too narrowly (stent experience only). We know which adjacent experience could work, so a scarce profile doesn’t stall your program.
Technical experience is only part of the picture. Provident Research looks at the function, device technology, program stage and working environment behind each role, then assesses clinical and functional experience, job history and device background alongside communication, time management and the ability to work effectively in your setting. We discuss the role with you first, so the assessment reflects your team’s expectations, processes and reporting relationships.
Provident Research looks beyond whether a professional can do the work to whether the engagement is right for them and whether they are likely to stay. More than 95% of professionals staffed by Provident Research remain in role at the 12-month mark.
Since 2009, Provident Research has learned the factors that make a medical device staffing engagement work over the long term: an individual’s motivation, fit with the organization’s stage, compensation expectations against the market, appetite for travel and alignment with the program’s timeline. Weighing these before an engagement begins lets Provident Research spot potential mismatches before they become costly.
The result is more than a filled role. Higher retention means less turnover and more continuity, keeping clinical studies and teams on track.
